Case Study

CIS designed and built a complete IT solution for a nursery and primary school across two sites. The requirements were to develop and upgrade their existing IT systems. The organization needed to share teaching and learning resources easily across sites without resorting to transfers of multiple documents using time-consuming methods and tools such as email and insecure USB sticks. We designed and installed a modern infrastructure in each site which allowed staff to communicate and collaborate using cloud services, video conferencing, instant messaging and document management tools. In addition, staff were able to work from home using a secure virtual private network.

Support Services

Provided remote and on-site technical support to approximately 50 users across two sites. 

Network Cabling

Installation of cabling and patch panels for an entire school building.

Server Installation

Installation and configuration of the school's servers.

Virtual Private Network

Securely connected multiple sites together using a Virtual Private Network. In addition, allowed users to securely access the school network from any remote location.

IT Handbook and Policies

Devised school IT and E-Safety policies using guidance from the Department of Education; compiling in a staff IT handbook.

IT Health Check

Performed a full IT audit to identify any vulnerabilities that could compromise the school's systems and data.


Creation of an intranet allowing staff to access the school's resources, including cloud services.

Cloud Computing and Hosted Services

Provision of school's own email, document and password management, file sharing and instant messaging tools.

Video Conferencing

Establishment of a video conferencing system, allowing staff to collaborate across remote sites.
